Bio

I graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I've worked on independent feature films, music videos, commercials, television, and photoshoots.

I believe that being an artist for film is about many things: telling a story, reaching your audience, making people think, laugh, scream. Recently, I worked as department head and special effects coordinator for the Butcher Brothers on their latest film The Violent Kind, premiering this January 2010 in Sundance. I hope it makes people cringe, scream, and hold onto each other in terror! Currently, some of my out of kit effects work is featured on Animal Planet’s I’m Alive and Discovery Channel’s I Was Bitten, where my anatomy and fx skills are used to educate on the dangers and consequences of encounters with wildlife.

I live in the Bay Area and travel to LA and across the state for work. If you have projects across the country, I would love nothing better than to take gigs across the nation. Currently, I am in preproduction for a horror film that will be shot in Youngstown, Ohio. I hope to push the effects beyond my previous work…I love a challenge! In addition to film, tv, web and print, I work with talented photographer Tressa Pack on a series of gallery work. Our projects combine plants as prosthetics on models to express concepts of life and death. I work with FreshIFilms across Northern and Southern California to teach workshops and media curriculum to youth and teens about special fx makeup, video game design, and stop motion.

Beyond entertainment value, I also believe that I can use my skills to open up new avenues for kids and adults who aspire to express themselves through special makeup effects. That’s why I love to teach kids, hold workshops with my peers, and run a makeup messageboard for artists in the bay area and beyond. Projects and gigs are just one facet of my work; making connections, learning, and helping others grow is a cornerstone to my passion for makeup.
